I absolutely love helping my library, museum, and gallery colleagues make their work shine!
I have over a decade of experience in cultural heritage, in everything from department leadership to collections management, to in-depth research, exhibit design, teaching, and programming (and more).
I am available to use my food history and fermentation knowledge, as well as my research skills, to help with projects large and small, including:
Exhibits: Everything from conception and layout to label copy, display items, and catalog research and writing. I have worked at every stage of the exhibit design process, from conception to install to opening, as well as designing complementary programming.
Programs: I have experience designing and leading engaging programming, whether a standalone activity or a program that is part of a larger series or exhibit. These include on-site programming (lecture series, exhibit openings, demonstrations, and more) to embedded programming in the community (such as bringing collection materials to an elder care facility and later a classroom of incarcerated scholars, or teaching a group of chefs how to ferment food using historic methods).
My programs are focused on education and dialogue: I am not interested in just standing up and talking at folks for an hour (though I certainly am capable of doing that). My goal is to get people talking, engaged with the subject matter and physical materials, and to leave with a special and personal connection to the event, the subject matter, and hopefully to your institution as well!
Writing and research: I have experience writing exhibition materials on a range of subjects, particularly around the subject of food. I have been chosen as a guest contributor to colleagues’ exhibition materials, and have published extensive research-driven works in food history, librarianship, museum studies, and beyond.
Writing meticulously-researched content is one of my favorite things, and I can create compelling and fact-focused label copy, exhibit panels, catalog text, annotated collection /display item lists, written programs, educator materials (for in house training and to be distributed in public programming), and more.
